Châtaignes (Chestnuts)

Chestnut trees are very common in the forest here. You just have to roll their prickly shells with your shoe and out they pop. I am looking for new recipes that include fresh chestnuts.

  1. Roasting over an open fire... in the wire popcorn popper, supposedly results in very delicious fare.

Personally, I have never had them! Often there are some offered at the Farmers Mkt. Also, methinks there is a cake recipe, and I will look for it. I think, beings that you are in France(!) that they would be fabulous roasted, served with wine and delicious cheese. Oh. Yum.
